It Reminds You Of What’s Important
Life is busy and at times, it can be quite difficult and rather challenging. Most people, spend the majority of their time, looking after the what are deemed to be the necessary aspects of life, such as a home, income, food, heating etc.
How it works
- We should be spending time with loved ones, family and friends creating memories and enjoying the moment.
- In daily life, the over exaggerated size of our head, is how we see the stuff that isn’t really that important – we blow it up out of all proportion.
- Taking time out to meditate can actually improve relationships, as it helps us to realise and understand the things we truly couldn’t do without in our lives.
- Meditate for 20, 30 or 60 minutes, it will help you gain a sense of perspective.
We perpetually stress about making ends meet and whether our job is safe. We worry about what we would do, should we find ourselves suddenly out of work and with no income. So, to try to ensure this doesn’t happen, we work extra hours to make ourselves a valued employee, which means we have even less time to do the things we should be doing.
We should be spending time with loved ones, family and friends creating memories and enjoying the moment. We should be indulging in our hobbies and learning new things, that will enrich our lives.
However, to be able to do this, we need to gain some perspective and remind ourselves of what is truly important. Meditation is the perfect method for achieving this perspective, as we can put aside all of the concerns about the day-to-day issues and remind ourselves of the things that really do matter. Partner, children, family, friends, maybe even your faithful pet, are all much, much more important than your job or the latest utility bill.
In our daily lives, we see the world like we see our reflection in a “Hall of Mirrors” you find at fairgrounds, which make it seem as though your head is the size of a car and you have legs like a sparrow. In daily life, the over exaggerated size of our head, is how we see the stuff that isn’t really that important – we blow it up out of all proportion, so that becomes the only thing we can see. At the same time, we diminish the attention we pay to the things that really do matter, just as the reflection makes our legs look tiny and insignificant.
As you meditate, you understand that the things you have been viewing as important, aren’t really that important. Instead, you remember that taking a little time out for yourself is better for you, mentally and emotionally, and that spending time with your family is way more important, than your job or the utility bills. It gives you the space to see the value of things in their true right, not in a distorted manner that’s showing you a false reality.
Taking time out to meditate can actually improve relationships, as it helps us to realise and understand the things we truly couldn’t do without in our lives. If you meditate for 20, 30 or 60 minutes, it will help you gain a sense of perspective, that will lead to more time and attention spent on quality time with loved ones and at the end of the day, isn’t that what’s truly important?
